About Be Elite

Stephen Barry, Msc, CSCS, CPT, CES
I am a 32 year old Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach with 10 yrs experience working with many different sporting populations. My primary qualifications are a degree in Sports Science from University of Chester and a masters in Exercise Physiology from Trinity College, Dublin. I have 3 personal training qualifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) including Corrective Exercise Specialist and Sports Fitness Specialist. I am also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), one of the most well recognised qualifications in strength and conditioning in the world. I also lecture to both 1st and 3rd year health science students at University College Dublin (UCD) on their strength and conditioning modules.
My experience to date has had me working with soccer, hockey, tennis, sailing, basketball, golf, swimming and many more. I am currently head strength and conditioning coach for the Irish Men’s hockey squad. The role means I develop and control the senior men’s strength and conditioning program as well as co-ordinating fitness for our U-16 and U-18 international boys and girls teams. I am also currently working with 'Get a Grip' Tennis Academy who train up and coming elite tennis kids who play at both regional and national level.
2010 sees me go full time with Be Elite as I have recently began working for myself after a 7 year spell at David Lloyd Riverview where I worked as a personal trainer. I have also been involved as fitness trainer with Bohemians football club back in 2004; I have worked with international youth sailors, basketball players and elite swim teams in Trojan swim club.
Fitness is my life and training people who want to be elite is what I do.
